With change in any organization, positive and negative outcomes will affect the moral of the company that is experiencing the transition. The negative aspects of the transition process can undermine the reasoning for the change and cause individuals to question the need for the change and its validity.  Careful planning is an essential component in leading an organization through any change initiative. Giving employees a substantial role to play as part of the transition process will help reduce the negative undertones during the transition process. This will allow employees to:

  1. Have insight into problems the organization is facing as it is going through the transition and come up with potential solutions.
  2. Align themselves to work on solving the problem as a team.
  3. Learn how to solve problems with fellow team members and make their opinions known as part of the overall solution.
  4. Gain more knowledge regarding the problem and how it and potential solutions will affect others within the organization.
  5. Feel a part of the decision making process regarding the problem and potential solutions even if it wasn’t the solution they would have gone with. This will increase increase the chances of the employee accepting the final outcome.

Empowering employees can lessen the waves that change within an organization can bring and help companies transition easier.
